Electrical Sales Support
Reporting to: Sales Director
Location: Head Office, Avonmouth, Bristol
BASIC PURPOSE
We are seeking a reliable and motivated all‑rounder to join our Electrical Sales team. This is a hands‑on role supporting customer service, order processing, inventory and warehouse operations. The role will be a key point of contact for customers, helping ensure orders are processed accurately and promptly.
The Electrical Sales Support role will assist in the growth of IES Electrical through positive engagement with current and prospective customers. Maintaining and developing high quality customer relationships and ensuring both IES and customer expectations are met and exceeded, giving outstanding experience every time. The role will focus on the achievement of long-term customer loyalty.
This role is offered as three days per week, with additional overtime available to cover leave periods. As this is a small team, there will be an expectation of flexibility to carry out various tasks and activities to support the effective overall running of the department.
This role will be based in Avonmouth at our Head Office and will include the opportunity to go out to different sites to meet key customers.
KEY TASKS
- Respond to customer enquiries eg regarding products, pricing, availability and delivery accurately, professionally and in a timely manner
- Obtain pricing and prepare quotes for customers, including any necessary consultation with the team and research with suppliers
- Develop and maintain effective long-term relationships with customers
- Process customer orders using the order management system, from entry through to dispatch and invoicing
- Generate and issue invoices accurately and promptly
- Support with the returns process, including receipting, processing of debit/credit notes & stock control
- Liaise with internal team members to resolve customer enquiries any order/delivery issues
- Communicate effectively with suppliers eg regarding pricing, lead times and availability; raise Purchase Orders to source goods to maintain appropriate stock levels in consultation with the Electrical Manager
- Support with general departmental duties eg receipting goods and ad hoc picking/packing of customer orders accurately and securely for transport
- Assist with periodic stock takes
- Identify growth opportunities for IES Electrical customer portfolio
- Proactively seek sales opportunities with both new and existing customer base
- Periodically visit current and new customers, to promote strong customer relationships
- Support with researching potential new product ranges in conjunction with Electrical Manager to ensure they are fit for purpose and represent a positive return on investment for the business
- Assist with general duties within the department
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Industry experience preferred
- Generally proficient with IT, including Microsoft Office
- Strong planning and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships
- Quality of records and paperwork (presentation, accuracy, timeliness and completeness) in line with company expectations and high standards
- Ability to work autonomously, use own initiative and make considered, informed decisions
- Ability to implement, and ensure compliance with, health, safety and company policies and procedures
- Customer-focused with sound commercial awareness
- Flexibility, adaptability and ability to cope with change
- Keen eye for detail
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality, honesty & integrity
- Forward thinking with a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude
- Full, clean driving licence preferred

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
- Additional and/or unsociable hours may be necessary when required

Rumuneration & Benefits
Rate
£13-15.50/hr, depending on experience
Working Pattern
- 3 days a week
- 0830-1700hrs with 30mins unpaid for lunch
- Plus additional hours available (eg to support during departmental annual leave)

Apprentice
INDUSTRIAL ELECTRICAL APPRENTICE
Reporting to: Electrical Manager
Location: Head Office, Avonmouth, Bristol
BASIC PURPOSE
The Industrial Electrical Apprentice role is a development position designed to provide hands-on experience and structured learning within an electrical assembly and warehousing environment. Working under supervision, the Industrial Electrical Apprentice will support the production of switchgear, combination units, RCD protected sockets and other bespoke builds while developing the technical skills and knowledge required to perform these tasks independently.
The role combines practical work with formal training, including completion of the Level 2 Engineering Operative – Electrical apprenticeship. The apprentice will contribute to maintaining high standards of quality, safety and efficiency by supporting production activities, assisting with warehouse operations and ensuring tools and work areas are kept in good order.
Through active participation in training, adherence to company procedures and collaboration with team members to meet production schedules and deadlines, the apprentice will build competency and confidence to progress into a fully skilled role.
KEY TASKS
- This is a development role, and you will be required to learn the key tasks below before being able to carry them out un supervised:
- Production of Switchgear
- Production of Combination Units
- Production of RCD Protected Sockets
- Production of any ad-hoc & bespoke build requirements
- Assist Warehouse function, including picking & packing of orders
- Maintain tools in a clean, good working order and reporting any inadequacies
- Maintain work areas in a clean, tidy & safe manner
- Participate actively in safety and other training
- Report damage & defects in machinery, tools & equipment in accordance with internal procedures
- Co-operate in department workflow in accordance with schedule and deadlines
- Attend the Level 2 Engineering Operative - Electrical Apprenticeship workshops and complete all required coursework & assignments set to a high standard
- Undertake other business activities on behalf of the company from time to time in line with identified skills, competencies and experience (may be required)
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately

This role is designed to develop alongside the apprenticeship programme. Full training, support and guidance will be provided to facilitate success. As skills and knowledge develop, there will be opportunities for progression within the department, subject to business needs and successful completion of training.
